1940. A press photo from the Dutch army distributed after the general mobilization. The general mobilization order on 28 August 1939 brings the entire Dutch armed forces on war footing. All conscripts from between 1924 to 1939 are called to duty. The Dutch army reached a strength of approximately 280,000 men.
